How To Find the POST ID, CATEGORY ID, PAGE ID in WORDPRESS 2.9.2 (2.5 AND UP).

GUIDE: HOW TO FIND THE WORDPRESS PAGE ID / POST ID / CATEGORY ID

With WordPress 2.5 being released, the IDs on all admin pages have been removed as it is. Propably due to the fact that the common user dont need them. However, for advanced WordPress Users/ developers those IDs were quite interesting for some plugins or template tags.

In order to perfect your Transcript theme you can simply eliminate useless pages, or pages that you prefer to appear on the Footer instead of the Navigation bar. To do that, you have to find the Page/Post ID/Category ID.

Example of Transcript’s “Exclude Page from Navigation” -

(Transcript is one of the most advanced WordPress Newsletter based Premium WordPress theme that is currently offered in the market).

Method 1
- After you’ve logged into your WordPress dashboard, (http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin). Go to Pages > Edit or Posts > Edit and from the list of Pages/Posts hover over the Page/Post title you want to find the ID of. Every time you hover over, your browser’s status bar will show you a URL ending with a number like this.

This might be a painful process.

Method 2
- If you don’t see anything when you hover over, click on the Page link to open edit Page screen. Now, look in your browser’s address bar and you’ll find the URL ending with a number. and that is your Page/Post ID.

Method 3
- What this plugin does is to reveal most removed entry IDs on admin pages, showing the entry IDs, as it was in versions prior to 2.5

Features:
Following IDs can be revealed: Posts, Pages, Categories, Links, Media, Users, Comments, Link categories, Tags (WP 2.8 and above)
Each ID can be de-/activated seperately, plus you can allow/permit user roles to see the IDs
